Addressing the Impact of COVID-19 on Selection

The following arrangements have been put in place to address the impact of the cancellation of conferences, courses and meetings due to COVID-19, primarily in terms of allocation of points for the Curriculum Vitae.

Conferences

  • USANZ ASM 2020
  • RACS ASC 2020
  • AUA Annual Meeting 2020
  • CUA 2020 Annual Meeting

Presentations

Points will be awarded for research accepted for presentation at the abovementioned meetings. Documentary evidence must comprise the following:

  • a copy of the abstract showing the applicant’s name and level of authorship against the presentation title, and
  • the confirmation email sent by the conference secretariat which states the presentation title and presentation type (i.e. oral presentation including moderated poster within meeting program, poster presentation including a moderated oral presentation in exhibition area only, or unmoderated poster).

Attendance

Points will be awarded to applicants who had registered for the abovementioned meetings and were not delivering a presentation. Documentary evidence must comprise the confirmation email sent by the conference secretariat including payment confirmation (i.e. receipt).

Please note the following:

  • Points will not be awarded for attendance where an applicant cancelled their registration to the abovementioned meetings of their own accord prior to Friday 6 March 2020. USANZ will verify with the respective conference secretariats.
  • Requests for a registration fee refund following official meeting cancellation notification will not impact upon the awarding of a point for attendance.
  • The following clause from the Selection Regulations will still apply:
    • 9.2.4 - Points will not be awarded for attendance at:
    • a) Scientific meetings or conferences where a score has been given for a presentation at the same meeting.

The abovementioned allowances will also be afforded to doctors applying to the SET Program in Urology from 2021 onwards purely in terms of presentations or attendance registration at the abovementioned meetings.

RACS Courses

Points will be awarded to applicants who had registered for a RACS Course scheduled to be held between Monday 9 March 2020 and Wednesday 25 March 2020. Documentary evidence must comprise the confirmation email sent by RACS, including payment confirmation (i.e. receipt).

Please note the following:

  • Points will not be awarded for attendance where an applicant cancelled their course registration of their own accord prior to Friday 6 March 2020. USANZ will verify with RACS.
  • Registration fee refund following official course cancellation will not impact upon the awarding of a point for attendance.
  • The following clause from the Selection Regulations will still apply:
    • 9.2.4 - Points will not be awarded for attendance at:
    • c) ASSET, CCrISP, EMST and CLEAR (or equivalent courses recognised by the College).

This allowance may not be afforded to doctors applying to the SET Program in Urology from 2021 onwards and will be clarified in due course.
