Eligibility

Generic Requirements
Any person wishing to apply for the Surgical Education and Training Program in Urology must satisfy the generic eligibility criteria determined by the RACS. All generic eligibility requirements must be satisfied at the time of registration when applicants must also consent to a full criminal history check including the submission of relevant documentation if required. For more detailed information refer to the generic eligibility requirements for 2021 intake (conducted during 2020).

Urology Specific Requirements
Any person wishing to apply for the Surgical Education and Training Program in Urology must also satisfy the urology specific eligibility requirements outlined in SET Selection Regulations for the 2021 intake (conducted during 2020).

Future eligibility requirement
Successful completion of the RACS Clinical Examination (CE) will be a mandatory eligibility requirement for the 2022 intake (conducted during 2021). The number of attempts made at the RACS Clinical Examination, may also be taken into consideration in the awarding of CV points.

Application Process

Registration
Any person intending to apply for selection to the Surgical Education and Training Program in Urology must  first register to apply in accordance with the RACS Registration for Selection into Surgical Education and Training PolicyApplicants who have not registered cannot lodge an application for the Surgical Education and Training Program in Urology. The dates for registering for the 2021 intake (conducted during 2020), are:

  • Registrations Open Monday 6 January 2020 at 12:00 noon AEDT
  • Registrations Close Monday 3 February 2020 at 5.00pm AEDT
     

Registration, including information on the registration fees charged, is available on the RACS website.

Application
The process for registered applicants opens in February / March each year. The opening and closing dates for application for the 2021 intake (conducted during 2020) are as follows:

  • Applications Open Wednesday 26 February 2020 at 12:00 noon (AEDT)
  • Applications Close Wednesday 25 March 2020 at 12:00 noon (AEDT)
     

During this time, eligible registered applicants will be able to access an online application form, including information on the application fee charged from the RACS website. Late applications will not be considered.

Referee reporting
The opening and closing dates for referee reporting for the 2021 intake (conducted during 2020) are as follows:

  • Referee Reporting Opens - Wednesday 22 April 2020 (AEST)
  • Referee Reporting Closes - Wednesday 20 May 2020 5.00pm (AEST)
     

Interviews
Interviews for the 2021 intake (conducted during 2020) will take place in Sydney and Melbourne on Saturday 20 June 2020.

Announcement of offers
Offers for successful applicants for the 2021 intake (conducted during 2020) will be announced:

  • Announcement of Offers (New Zealand) - Wednesday 1 July 2020.
  • Announcement of Offers (Australia) - Monday 27 July 2020 - Australia
