Specialty Advisory Groups and Other Interest Groups
USANZ Members have deep knowledge of their specialty areas. In recognition of this expertise, the Society has established several interest groups.
These groups provide a framework within which Members can provide input into the work of the Society via the relevant Leader. The groups also ensure that relevant experts can be consulted during decision-making processes for clinical and professional matters.
USANZ currently has six Specialty Advisory Groups (SAGs) as well as a committee for Surgical Women in Australia and New Zealand Urology (SWANZU). More details about each group, including the current Leader, are provided below:
- Andrology SAG
- Endourologuy SAG
- Female Urology SAG
- Genitourinary Oncology SAG
- Male Lower Urinary Tract SAG
- Paediatric and Reconstructive SAG
- SWANZU Committee
All USANZ members are eligible to participate in all groups. Members may participate in any number of groups for which they have relevant expertise.
Access agendas and minutes from the annual SAG and SWANZU meetings.
Group Leaders
All SAGs and other interest groups have a Leader appointed by the USANZ Board of Directors. These Leaders are responsible for consulting with and drawing on the experience of Community Members to advise the Board on matters relating to clinical practice and sub-specialty areas.
Responsibilities for SAG/SWANZU Leaders include:
- reviewing medical content published, endorsed and distributed by USANZ;
- developing position statements
- providing advice about research, new treatments or operating techniques
- reviewing research survey requests prior to distribution to members
- providing input to the ASM Scientific Program Committee and reviews of the training curriculum
- convening an annual meeting of members at the ASM for members of their Specialty Interest Community
- conducting consultations with their Specialty Interest Community where required.
