Helen O'Connell is one of Australia's top scientists!

We are thrilled to share exciting news from within our USANZ community. Our President, Prof Helen O'Connell AO, has been named by ABC News as one of the Australian scientists who have changed or are changing our world! This prestigious list features profiles of 10 individuals who are shaping our world for the better by pushing the boundaries of knowledge and innovation.

Prof O'Connell - who was Australia's first female urologist - was recognised for her work, beginning in the 1990s, to advance our anatomical understandings of the clitoris. Prof O'Connell has also pioneered treatments relating to the urinary tract, bladder, and prostate.

The article was based on Robyn William's list of Top 100 Australian Scientists, which ran as part of the ABC Science Show in January. The list aimed to introduce the public to some of the scientists who are making huge strides in our lives.
