The Panellists are:

  • A/Prof Judith Lacey – Head of Supportive Care & Integrative Medicine, Chris O’Brien Lifehouse
  • Penny Smith – Head of Operations & Support Services, Olivia Newton John Wellness Centre
  • Peter Talbot – Head of Dietetics & Nutrition, Westmead Hospital
  • Dr Andrew Hirschhorn – Clinical Director, Allied Health/Physiotherapy, MQ Health

About the Session

BEAT has tailored this event to nurses, carers and patients – all busy people, who often have trouble finding the time to keep up with the latest research.

‘Having four incredibly well-respected health professionals to answer questions on wide-ranging topics such as exercise, nutrition, the role of complementary medicine and the importance of overall wellbeing as they relate to bladder cancer is such an honour,’ said BEAT President, Adam Lynch. ‘We ask that nurses, carers and patients submit questions prior to the event to ensure that the panellists cover all the hot topics in this increasingly important field of integrative health.’

Integrative health takes into account the physical, psychological, social and spiritual wellbeing of a person with the aim of using the most appropriate, safe and evidence-based treatments available.

An integrative health approach to bladder cancer, for example, would combine the roles of orthodox and complementary healthcare practices to facilitate a person’s optimal bladder cancer recovery and on-going bladder health in a wholistic way.

CPD (health professionals): 1.5 hours.

Please submit any questions for our panellists into the Questions & Comments fields when you register or submit a question via email.
