Medicare Compliance

The Department of Health and Aged Care is currently undertaking Medicare compliance activities.

This action is being undertaken because some medical providers have been claiming for Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) services while overseas, which breaches the Health Insurance Act 1973.

This activity involves data matching Department of Home Affairs movement records to MBS claiming data.

If you are identified through this auditing process, you will receive a letter from the Department of Health and Aged Care.
