USANZ Statement: Voice to Parliament

In response to correspondence from Members urging USANZ to state its position on the forthcoming referendum, the Board of Directors wishes to make the following statement:

Whilst acknowledging a diversity of opinions amongst our Members, USANZ joins many of our peer healthcare organisations in the support of constitutional enshrinement of a Voice to Parliament. As an organisation of Urological Surgeons, one of our roles is advocacy for the health needs of vulnerable and less privileged populations. We hope that a Voice to Parliament will enable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to have a greater say and engagement in the development of policies and legislation which directly affect their health and wellbeing, through the process of self-determination.
