Telehealth Surveys: Opinions of Surgeons and Patients

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced many practitioners to rapidly include telehealth throughout much if not the majority of their practice. Telehealth consultations involve connecting with patients either over the telephone or via a video-link to their home computer, iPad or smartphone.

Researchers at the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, John Hunter Hospital and the Hunter Medical Research Institute Newcastle are interested in assessing the uptake of telehealth by Surgeons throughout Australia. They also aim to identify barriers to telehealth's future use while gaining insights into Surgeons' perceptions regarding its suitability in the provision of surgical care beyond the pandemic.

At the end of the survey you will be given the option to provide your name and email. If you choose to do this, we will contact you to seek your assistance in sending a survey to your patients who have attended a telehealth appointment. This consumer survey aims to assess patient satisfaction with telehealth surgical consultations.

Survey responses once submitted cannot be reviewed, edited, or withdrawn. Participation is voluntary, and by completing the survey you are indicating your consent to participate in the project.

The results of both these surveys will be used by the RACS for advocacy purposes as well as to inform future research in telehealth. USANZ encourages its Members to participate in the survey and to also promote the survey  link to all relevant patients for their consideration.
