Genie/Gentu updates Master Service Agreement (MSA) and Privacy Policy
For members who use Magentus practice management systems Genie or Gentu, you will have received emails across November from the Magentus Team advising of an important update.
Magentus has updated their Master Service Agreement (MSA) and Privacy Policy.
These changes will automatically apply to your services from 13 December 2025.
No action is an automatic opt-in.
Please note, as a user you have the option to Opt Out of the changes which allow patient information to be used for “Data Projects". This may have been unclear in the emails from Magentus, as the details are in the Master Service Agreement and FAQ’s rather than specifically outlined in the email.
Magentus has advised that users can opt out by following the in-product opt out steps. Alternatively you can email pmdataservices@magentus.com
Some members using Gentu have advised that there is no in-product opt out option in Gentu.
If you opt-in, Patient Consent is a significant consideration. You will need to ensure that as a practice you have received the patient consents that recognise these Data and AI solutions.
Magentus Trust Centre includes a recommendation that you obtain your own legal advice for Data Solutions. USANZ has contacted Avant to obtain further advice on behalf of Members. We are awaiting their response which will be communicated to Members in due course.
In their own resources Magentus advise that if you opt-in Magentus will not directly sell practice data or any patient personal information. However, if a practice chooses to opt-in to the Magentus Research Program as part of their external data solutions, they may use de-identified data to create aggregated insights that are then provided to project sponsors in return for a commercial benefit. They advise not all projects will involve a commercial benefit, and they may use data as part of the external data solutions to provide insight back to customers or to government departments and agencies in a way that allows them to advocate on behalf of customers.
Please read through the Magentus Master Service Agreement and take close note of:
10. Data Project Use of Patient Data
10.1 Participation in the Data Projects
10.2 Data Project Use
