Australasian Urological Foundation

The Australasian Urological Foundation Ltd (AUF) was established in 1994 by the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand (USANZ). The Foundation's main objects are to:

  • support and encourage urologic research into the prevention of urological diseases throughout Australia, including provision of scholarships for this purpose;
  • promote education of urologic topics in Australia through providing funding and technical support to educational programs
  • fund and support the provision of relief for individuals suffering from urological diseases.

AUF Travelling Fellowship

The funding round for the AUF Travelling Fellowships is conducted annually and is open to Full Members of USANZ and Trainee Members who are enrolled in the final year of the SET Training Program.

The aim of the Fellowship program is to enable members to engage in more substantive training or research in overseas urology units.

The Fellowship will provide primary funding to successful applicants to allow them to engage in clinical research and/or further urological training at an overseas centre in a particular area of interest to the applicant. The Fellowships should be seen as continuing professional development, gaining knowledge and skills that can be shared with all urologists in Australia and New Zealand. As such, successful applicants are required to share their experience through presentations at a local Section meeting or at the Annual Society Meeting within one year following completion of the Fellowship.

Covid-19

In the present Covid-19 pandemic, with associated travel restrictions and curtailment of usual medical practice, the AUF has deferred travel grants for the foreseeable future.

Donations to the AUF

The Foundation receives no government funding and relies solely on donations from corporate and individual supporters to continue its valuable work.
