Celebrating USANZ Members
USANZ in the Media
It was a busy week for USANZ in the media! Several members were interviewed by prominent media outlets.
Dr Ashani Couchman, USANZ Board Member, featured on The Project on Tuesday 18 June. The segment discussed long-term treatment options for recurrent and chronic UTIs experienced by Australian women. The story referenced the trial that allows pharmacists to dispense antibiotics for uncomplicated UTIs without a prescription, a topic that USANZ addressed in its 2023 Media Release "Prescription Shortcut Puts Patient Safety at Risk".
In addition, Prof Eric Chung was interviewed for an SBS Health article about how the cold weather can impact urination. Dr Chung is the Leader for the USANZ Male Lower Urinary Tract Specialty Advisory Group. He spoke to SBS about how seasonal changes can impact the production of vasopressin and therefore urine.
Exam Candidates
USANZ is excited to announce that 11 trainees recently passed their Fellowship Examinations. USANZ warmly congratulates Drs Thomas Ahn, Allen Chen, Jason Kim, Margaret Mansbridge, Shannon McGrath, Tatenda Nzenza, Ellen O'Connor, Paria Saadat, Brennan Timm, Michelle Trigger, and Dale Wood.
World Continence Week
As part of World Continence Week (17-23 June), the Continence Foundation of Australia (CFA) invited USANZ Members to participate in their 2024 "Let's Talk" campaign.
Drs Eva Fong and Sandra Elmer, Leader and Deputy Leader of the USANZ Functional Urology Specialty Advisory Group, contributed to the campaign. Sandra encouraged people to overcome their hesitancy and seek help for incontinence as simple, safe treatments are available.
It's great to see USANZ Members continuing to provide expert contributions to these important public campaigns.
