BJUI USANZ Editor
Following a recent EOI process, the USANZ Board of Directors is pleased to announce that the BJUI USANZ Editor. The role will be shared between A/Prof Marlon Perera and A/Prof Matthew Roberts. They will commence from August 2025.
We thank the outgoing editor Prof Nathan Lawrentschuk for his ten years of service to USANZ and Urology.
Cancer Scanner at Epworth Hospital
A new cancer scanner is being trialled at Epworth Hospital which enables surgeons to analyse the whole tumour mid-surgery.
The imaging field gives a more accurate detection of the cancer margin and means decisions can be made while the patient is on the operating table.
One of the first patients to undergo an operation assisted by the scanner, while receiving life-saving prostate surgery last month.
Channel 9 reported on this advancement, with expert commentary from USANZ Members Prof Nathan Lawrentschuk and A/Prof Marlon Perera. The device will be available in most capital cities within the year and used on breast and skin cancer surgeries in that time too.
