The Passing of Brian Kelly

It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing last week of our colleague Dr Brian Kelly.

Brian commenced his training in urology in Ireland before completing his final years in the United Kingdom, including a fellowship in surgical oncology in Birmingham. He came to Australia in 2018 to undertake a fellowship at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, before moving to a fellowship in endourology at the Austin Hospital, then continuing to Peter MacCallum Hospital where he was initially appointed as a fellow and then continuing as a staff urologist. He also held an appointment to Eastern Health in Melbourne.

Brian was known to all as a kind and generous person with a great sense of humour, and a broad smile that brought joy to anyone who witnessed it. He was a thoughtful tutor for trainee members of USANZ and a highly regarded clinician, as well as an accomplished researcher who had completed a postgraduate MD on the topic of circulating tumour cells in Prostate cancer as well as an MSc in Health Informatics.

We extend our sincere sympathies at this sad time to his son Tadhg, his wife Farah, and all of his extended family and friends who will miss him greatly.

Any USANZ member in need of further information or support consequent upon this news should feel free to contact Damien Bolton (USANZ) or Declan Murphy (Peter MacCallum Hospital).
