USANZ in the Media

USANZ Member Dr Eric Chung was recently interviewed by the Daily Mail about the impact of hydration on urination. Eric is the Leader for the USANZ Male Lower Urinary Tract Specialty Advisory Group.

The article was a response to a recent viral TikTok from a UK doctor about the dangers of over-hydration. Eric provided balanced, expert commentary on the topic, explaining concerns around under- and over-hydration and recommending consultation with a GP if concerned. This follow Eric's interview with SBS Health last month about the impact of cold weather on urination.

In addition, USANZ President, Helen O'Connell, featured in an article in The Australian about chronic UTIs. This follows an article in the Medical Journal of Australia's InSight, written by Helen together with AMA President Steve Robson, RCGP Primary Care Guidelines Expert Magdalena Simonis and Westmead Pediatrics Professor of Urology Ani Deshpande. The article called for the recognition of chronic UTIs in Australia, as distinct from recurrent UTIs and pointed out significant issues with current testing methods.
