USANZ in the Media

On 14 April 2025, USANZ released a media statement regarding saliva tests for prostate cancer screening: Saliva test to screen for prostate cancer still years away from happening.

USANZ warns that this method of testing requires further evidence before it can be compared with current screening methods for prostate cancer. As it currently exists, there are a number of dangers associated with saliva testing as outlined by USANZ Genitourinary (GU) Oncology Special Advisory Group Leader A/Prof Weranja Ranasinghe.
