Survey - RACS Library Resources

The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) recently highlighted Library resources that may be of interest to USANZ Members. To check the resources are meeting the needs of our specialty, RACS has invited USANZ Members to participate in a survey

Current Library Resources

The Library offers resources and services to Fellows, Trainees, SIMGs and MOPS, including access to almost 8,000 online journal titles, nearly 33,000 online books, and a small print collection.

Online journals and books are easily accessed using a member’s RACS login details. Requests for items beyond the collection may be made.

Databases such as MEDLINE, Embase, Trip Pro and Cochrane are all available for searching. A Literature Search service is offered to help members with their research.

RACS has a dedicated page for Anatomy resources as well as Trainee resources and specialty resource pages for each of the Surgical Specialties. Resource pages can be filtered by resource type (book, journal, multimedia and more) and by subject or sub-specialty (where applicable). These pages are not exhaustive, so there is also an A-Z Title Listing of the entire electronic collection.

The eTOCs (electronic Table of Contents) service offers bundled alerts to new journal articles, covering a range of specialties and topics; those wanting specific titles may activate individual Journal Alerts. Other options for staying up to date include BrowZine and Read by QxMD.

The LibKey suite of products, including LibKey Nomad, is available helping members to access Library resources from all over the web such as  PubMed and journal publisher pages.
