USANZ at Women in Surgery Symposium 2025 - Wrap Up

Last weekend, USANZ Members attended the Women in Surgery Symposium 2025.

The student-focused event was run by UNSW Medical Society, in collaboration with the Surgical Societies from Western Sydney University and University of Sydney. 134 students from across the three universities participated in the event.

The field of Urology was strongly represented at the Symposium by USANZ Members Dr Ashani Couchman (USANZ Vice President and Chair of the Society's Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee) and Dr Anita Clarke (Leader of the USANZ Surgical Women in Australia and New Zealand Urology Committee). Ashani and Anita provided keynote addresses and delivered a workshop on Urology & Catheterisation. Student attendees said they left the workshop feeling more inspired to pursue a career in Urology!

The organisers thanked USANZ for contributing to the event, and shared the photographs below of students interacting with the devices in the workshop.

USANZ thanks the UNSW Medical Society for the invitation to participate in this event, and especially thanks Ashani and Anita for volunteering their time.
