Report from Boston Scientific Travelling Fellowship Recipient 2025

Dr Marnique Basto was awarded the Boston Scientific Travelling Fellowship for 2025, supporting her attendance at the annual meeting of the American Urological Association (AUA) in Las Vegas recently. Additionally, as part of the fellowship, Marnique travelled to three separate centres around the United States to review live surgeries.

After completing the fellowship, Marnique provided the report below to USANZ which we are happy to share with Members.

Report from Marnique Basto

I recently had the privilege of participating in a Boston Scientific-sponsored tour of high-volume prosthetic urology centres in the United States. This learning opportunity included visits to world-renowned surgeons, including Dr. Dean Knoll in Nashville, Dr. Matthias Hofer in San Antonio, and Dr. Jonathan Clavell in Houston – each performing over 350 prosthetic cases annually. These sessions, held around the AUA 2025 conference in Las Vegas, offered invaluable insights into advanced prosthetic techniques, patient selection, and surgical outcomes.

This experience was an incredible chance to deepen my understanding of complex prosthetic surgery and connect with leaders who have shaped the field. I am deeply grateful for the support of Boston Scientific in making this possible.

USANZ thanks Boston Scientific for their ongoing commitment to advancing urologic education and innovation for Australian urologists.
