Celebrating USANZ Members

ISSM Emil Tanagho Prize

At the recent World Meeting on Sexual Medicine, held in Dubai from 15–17 December 2023, a USANZ Member was awarded the Emil Tanagho Prize by the International Society for Sexual Medicine for the best innovative research.

Congratulations to the recipient of this prize, Professor Eric Chung! The ISSM Emil Tanagho Prize is considered the most prestigious prize to be awarded for a research abstract presented at the ISSM World Meeting on Sexual Medicine. The prize is named in honour of Dr Emil Tanagho, a pioneer in neurourology, urodynamics and bladder reconstruction.

Eric received this prize for his research abstract: Can Novel SDS-089 Nasal Vardenafil Spray Solution Achieve Satisfactory Drug Plasma Level Similar to Oral Vardenafil Formulation? A Bioanalysis Study Comparing Vardenafil Nasal vs Oral Formulations Using Liquid Chromatography Tandem Mass Spectrometry.

Most notably, this is the second time Eric has been the recipient of this prize! After having received the prize in 2021 and now 2023, Eric is the first person in the history of ISSM to have been awarded the Emil Tanagho Prize twice. This is a significant accomplishment and USANZ is delighted to hear of Eric's success.

The BSoT buddy scheme at BAUS 2023: a new initiative for fostering international relationships

USANZ President Professor Helen O'Connell AO participated in the BAUS Section of Trainees (BSoT) 'buddy' scheme at BAUS 2023. As an accomplished and prominent figure in urology, Helen mentored BSoT Member Suzanne Dunk.

It was lovely to read Suzanne's reflection on her experience, particularly the way in which Helen's mentorship has inspired her to "do greater things in urology".
