Celebrating USANZ Members
At the recent AUA 2024, held in San Antonio, several USANZ Members received awards for their contributions to urology.
David Winkle
Dr David Winkle was honoured with a Secretary Commendation for Global Leadership, in recognition of his past service as the President of the Urological Association of Asia (UAA). David is the immediate past UAA President, serving in the role in 2022-23 after he successfully helped USANZ secure the bid to host the 19th UAA Congress in Sydney. David Winkle was also awarded a Society Medal at the recent USANZ 2024 ASM.

Nathan Lawrentschuk
Professor Nathan Lawrentschuk won the Best Poster Presentation in the Penile Cancer section. Nathan's research examines how artificial intelligence will accurately allow men and health workers to take photos of penile lesions to help determine if they could be cancerous, from home if required, aiding in early detection of this disease. Dr Lawrence Liu is a collaborator on this project. This award comes on the back of Nathan's award at the USANZ 2024 ASM, where he was presented with the AstraZeneca Platinum Trophy.

Anne Hong
Dr Anne Hong was awarded the Best Poster Presentation in her section of AUA 2024. Anne's work was titled "Raised intrarenal pressures lead to bacteraemia." Her poster was based on the article published in the Journal of Urology which Anne authored with Marcel Leroi and USANZ Members Greg Jack and Damien Bolton. Anne was the recipient of the 2023 Daniel Christidis Scholarship, presented at the USANZ ASM in Melbourne.

USANZ warmly congratulates David, Nathan and Anne for these awards. It's wonderful to see our USANZ Members having such success on the international stage. We look forward to hearing about their achievements when they return from San Antonio.
