Prostate Cancer Support Groups
Research shows that Prostate Cancer Support Groups can improve outcomes for patients, helping to combat feelings of isolation following a diagnosis, providing psychological support, and offering an avenue to share relevant information. However, these groups are currently an under-utilised tool within the community, largely due to a lack of awareness.
Physicians and healthcare workers can help to combat this lack of awareness by promoting relevant, nearby groups to their patients.
Prostate Cancer Foundation Australia (PCFA) and Prostate Cancer Foundation New Zealand (PCFNZ) offer Prostate Cancer Support Groups to bring together men and women who have a passion for helping those impacted by prostate cancer. These Support Groups can be searched by region on the PCFA website and the PCFNZ website, to help locate a nearby group.
