USANZ in the Media: Prostate Cancer Awareness

USANZ continues to feature in the media on the back of the media release issued to coincide with Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, highlighting the importance of early PSA screening, especially for those with a family history of prostate cancer.

The media release features the story of Melbourne architect James Murray, who was aware of a long family history of prostate cancer stretching back 5 generations to the 1840s. Aware of that history, James underwent regular and consistent testing from the age of 40 to check for changes in his PSA levels and was later diagnosed with prostate cancer. Thanks to that testing, James' cancer was detected early and was successfully treated with surgery.

James Murray's story was featured in Over Sixty and included quotes from USANZ Member A/Prof Weranja Ranasinghe. Read the article on Over Sixty.

The story was also featured in The Senior. Read the article on The Senior.

USANZ thanks Weranja for making himself available for media commitments for this campaign.
