Consultation Paper on Fee Transparency

The Department of Health, Disability and Ageing invites USANZ Members to consider and respond to a consultation paper on Fee Transparency.

The papers describe the current fee transparency processes, highlight potential issues, and makes suggestions for reform to better support patient access to medical care.

Key elements examined include:

  • Fee transparency
  • The importance of Informed Financial Consent (IFC)
  • Structural barriers to cost transparency
  • Fragmented regulation and enforcement of IFC
  • Split billing practices and their impact in cost transparency

 

Members are invited to share their views by completing the Fee Transparency in Health Care: Informed Financial Consent and Split Billing Practices survey on the Department’s Consultation Hub.
