Update on Microdox

As USANZ members are aware, Microdox has been removed from the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods due to a change its classification in Europe. It continues to be available in New Zealand through Te Arai BioFarma but the usual wholesale suppliers in Australia will no longer be stocking it.

There are three options for supply at this time through Te Arai BioFarma:

1. Personal Importation Scheme (PIS) - Patient imports from overseas for importer use only - no resale allowed, maximum 3 months per importation. Further information on the PIS is available here. 
2. TGA Special Access Scheme (SAS) - Applications made by certain registered prescribing health practitioners for a specific single patient, TGA approval required. TGA processing time is 2-5 days. Further information on SAS is available here. 
3. TGA Authorised prescriber - Application made for a patient class (multiple patients), specific to a single medical practitioner. Specialist college or ethics committee support and TGA approval required. Further information is available here.
