CanStats - Launch of Cancer Data via Te Aho o Te Kahu
Te Aho o Te Kahu, a government agency focused on the impact of cancer in the lives of New Zealanders, has announced the launch of a new cancer dataset.
CanStats brings together the latest cancer data, dashboards, indicators, and targets from government and international cancer organisations, into one easy-to-access location. It replaces previous “Reports and numbers” and “Cancer in Numbers” pages.
Resources are organised under the cancer control continuum: prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment and survivorship. There are also links to population and cancer system data, alongside the Agency's reports, publications and guidance.
CanStats is envisaged as one way to help:
- Improve access to relevant cancer data for decision‑makers, clinicians, researchers, service providers and advocacy groups.
- Promote transparency across the sector by sharing data sources and methods, and support the reuse or replication of analytics
- Identify data gaps on the accessibility, quality, and experience of care for different groups and communities to inform ongoing work to address cancer data gaps to help identify and resolve inequities at a system-level over time.
- Strengthen system planning, responsiveness, and improvement using high-quality data and evidence.
