Spotlight on Urology
Spotlight on Urology takes a look at recent activities undertaken to advance urology around the world. This week, we provide an update on USANZ involvement in the National Continence Health Conference last weekend.
NCHC 2026
The National Continence Health Conference (NCHC) was held last weekend in Melbourne from 13-16 May 2026, hosted by Continence Health Australia. This is a multidisciplinary meeting for health professionals working in bladder, bowel and pelvic health, showcasing the latest in incontinence research and practice.
USANZ Members Aniruddh Deshpande and Caroline Dowling served on the Scientific Committee for the Conference. They both spoke several times throughout the conference, including Caroline's presentation in the closing panel where she focused on conservative to advanced prostate treatment.
The USANZ Lecture at NCHC was given by Marnique Basto, who spoke about recurrent stress urinary incontinence (SUI) on Thursday 14 May as part of the Female Surgery Symposium.
Other USANZ Members in attendance who presented included:
- Janice Cheng, who provided an update on OAB, looking from conservative to advanced approaches
- Liz Dally, who spoke in the SPUNZA Annual Meeting about long-term considerations
- Danielle Delaney, who gave two presentations on neuromodulation
- Jyotsna Jayarajan, who contributed to a practical afternoon workshop on catheters
- Claire Pascoe, who was part of a workshop about urinary continence management with the aid of urodynamics, and gave a separate presentation about robotic mesh removal
- Helen O'Connell, who chaired a session on innovations in bladder management
- Henry Yao, who presented a state of the art lecture on robotic-assisted surgery in older people
It's great to see USANZ Members contributing significantly to these discussions of continence health.
