Opportunity to Join RACS Rural Surgical Curriculum Working Group
The RACS Rural Surgical Curriculum Working Group is seeking expressions of interest for two members of RACS specialty training boards/committees who are also rural surgeons with experience in rural surgery or rural focused urban surgery including outreach, inreach, telehealth and supporting rural surgeons.
RACS has received funding from Department of Health and Aged Care for a Specialist Training Program (STP) funded project to develop the third Phase in the development of RACS’ Rural Surgical Curriculum Framework. The project will focus on implementing the findings of the Investigation and Development of a Rural Facing Curriculum and Rural-facing Surgical Curriculum eLearning Module Phase 1: Needs assessment by creating online resources according to the needs of rural surgical training and supervisory staff.
These learning resources will be targeted for use by Trainees across all surgical specialties who intend to practice in rural settings and will be reviewed by an Indigenous educational expert for cultural safety and appropriateness. The resources will also be easily adaptable to be relevant to other medical specialties with the substitution of supporting case studies.
The Working Group is time-limited and will meet online bimonthly. It will be convened in November 2024 and finalise project deliverables in February 2026.
Complete an application. The deadline for applications is 8 November, 2024.
