USANZ 2025 Vice-President Elect
Ashani Couchman has been elected as the USANZ 2025-26 Vice President Elect.
Ashani is a natural leader and member of the current Board of Directors of USANZ. She completed AICD director training before embarking on this role. She became a Full member of the Society in 2013. She is based in the South Australia / NT section where she runs a reconstructive urology practice, leading the State in services for adolescents transferring to adult urology.
Ashani knows Urologists on both sides of the Tasman having trained in both countries. She is the deputy Head of Department at Royal Adelaide Hospital and runs a private practice there. Ashani Chairs the Children and Young Person’s Committee of the International Continence Society and has led the development of their terminology. She is the Chair of the Medical Advisory Committee for Calvary North Adelaide hospital, and is a member of the South Australian State Committee for RACS.
She has undertaken multiple leadership courses in London during her Fellowship at UCLH, and the full suite of training supervisor and difficult conversations courses for RACS. She has convened and co-convened many courses in Female Urology and Reconstruction. She is a previous recipient of the Gold medal for Effective Communication, Trinity College London.
We wish Ashani success in her future senior leadership of USANZ as its Vice President in 2025-6 then President in 2027-28. We look forward to continuing to work with Ashani to lead the Society towards its strategic vision and future growth.
