Celebrating USANZ Members

USANZ in the Media

It's been another busy period for Urology in the media, with multiple USANZ Members providing expert commentary.

Ashani Couchman spoke to ABC Radio Darwin for the 'NT Afternoons' program with Jess Ong. Ashani, who is a USANZ Board Member, spoke about voiding habits and the difference between sitting and standing when using the toilet in terms of safely emptying the bladder and hygiene concerns.

Listen to the interview. Please note, this is the full 2.5 hour program but Ashani speaks from approximately 1:47.

Gregory Jack was interviewed by ABC Science about kidney stones. This article was related to recent news from a researcher at the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation who looked at carbon dating kidney stones. Greg provided information about the formation and prevention of kidney stones.

It's great to see Members representing the Society by providing important expert commentary in the media.

USANZ in Bali

Further to our story last week about the recent UAA, we have received more news from our Members who attended the Congress in Bali.

Isaac Thangasamy, Jodi Hirst and Sandra Elmer were the USANZ representatives in the Young Leadership Forum (YLF) which was held in conjunction with the UAA Congress. Isaac wrote a short Traning Report about his experiences at YLF, reflecting on the personal growth, professional network, and research opportunities gained from the Forum. He concluded by recommending other young urologists to participate in future Forums.

In addition, a UroCare Charity Run & Ride was held as part of the Congress. One of the events was a 10km race from the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Centre. The overall winner of that event was a USANZ Member, Amir Zarrabi from Dunedin. Amir donated his winner’s cheque of 2 million Indonesian Rupees to UroCare. Congratulations Amir!
