Celebrating USANZ Members

2026 USANZ ASM Committee

The USANZ Board of Directors is excited to announce the successful applicants who will join the organising committee for the 2026 ASM in Melbourne.

Dr Renu Eapen has accepted the position of ASM Convenor, while A/Prof Devang Desai will be the ASM Scientific Committee Chair.

The Society looks forward to working with Renu and Devang in developing the 2026 ASM program.

USANZ at ANZUP

USANZ was well represented at the recent Australian and New Zealand Urogenital and Prostate (ANZUP) ASM which was held this week at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition centre.

At this ANZUP ASM, USANZ Member Dr Dixon Woon was invited to present the inaugural USANZ Lecture. This opportunity arose from Dixon's presentation at the USANZ ASM in February, where he was awarded the Best Oncology Presentation. His paper was titled: "A Novel, Two-Stage Approach to the Treatment of Renal Cell Carcinoma with Intra-Cardiac Tumour Extension and Hepatic Vein Involvement: A Case Series". Unfortunately, Dixon was unable to present at ANZUP due to a change in personal circumstances, so his lecture was delivered by A/Prof Weranja Ranasinghe.

In other exciting news from ANZUP, Weranja was awarded a significant grant as part of the 2024 'Below the Belt' Research Fund. Weranja's research project is titled "Evaluating the BCG-R5 immune marker to define BCG response in high-risk non-muscle invasive bladder cancer and personalise intravesical therapy". This is the second 'Below the Belt' win for Weranja, who was also awarded a grant in 2022.
